Rumford-Mexico Sewerage District
Our Mission: Clean Water, Healthy Communities
At the heart of the Rumford-Mexico Sewerage District, established in 1971, is a singular mission: to ensure clean water and healthy communities for Rumford, Mexico, and Dixfield. Born from an urgent need to install a joint sewage treatment system and mitigate pollution in the Androscoggin River, our district stands as a cornerstone of public health infrastructure.
We operate a vital public sewage disposal system, encompassing the collection, pumping, and advanced treatment of wastewater. Our dedicated team manages interceptor sewers, pumping stations, and treatment plants, serving as the essential link for processing sewage from residential, commercial, and industrial sources within our district and from our partners. This crucial work not only supports the daily lives of our residents but also upholds our long-standing commitment to environmental stewardship, safeguarding the ecological integrity of the Androscoggin River.
